Partner

Partner Jo DeBolt, MBA, brings nearly 30 years of experience as a nonprofit executive and consultant to the firm.  As a consultant and nonprofit leader, much of Jo’s work involved starting and growing organizations including designing and developing systems, building boards and staff, implementing new programs, translating vision into action, and ensuring that mechanisms were in place to measure the impact of these new ventures.

Prior to joining La Piana Consulting, Jo was the founding Executive Director of the Mon Valley Initiative (MVI), a regional coalition of seventeen independent  community-based economic development organizations engaged in community organizing, housing, and commercial real estate development.  As an organization providing a shared staff and development resources, MVI became a model program of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and was replicated in several cities across the country.  Jo also opened the Pittsburgh regional office of the San Francisco-based Tides Center and served as the Director of Tides’ offices in both Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.  Most recently she launched a public education initiative for a Pittsburgh-based foundation.

Jo has served as a volunteer Board member for a number of organizations including the Progress Fund, the Community Loan Fund of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Heritage Health Foundation, and the Dollar Energy Fund..  She chaired a federal commission created by Congress to work with the National Park Service on a comprehensive plan to create a national heritage park to interpret the industrial and labor history of the steel industry.  These efforts led to the creation of Rivers of Steel, a state and national heritage area.  From 2000 to 2005, Jo served as a court-appointed trustee and Treasurer of the Duquesne City School District, a financially- and academically-challenged urban public school district. She currently serves on the boards of EPIC (Every Person Influences Children) in Buffalo, NY and the Human Services Center Corporation in Turtle Creek, PA.  Both organizations are dedicated to improving the lives of children and families, especially in under-served communities.

Jo holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.S. in Business from Duquesne University.

When she’s not busy working with her clients, Jo tries to keep up with her five daughters.  She is also an avid reader, a seasoned traveler, and a member of a local wine lovers club.
