Strategic Restructuring: |

Research & Resources One of Strategic Solutions' goals was to explore what makes certain strategic restructuring efforts more successful than others. As part of this research, we interviewed 26 executives and board members who have who have "lived through" the implementation of one or more strategic restructuring processes. These individuals represented 18 different strategic restructuring efforts: 13 mergers, one administrative consolidation, one restructuring of local chapters of a national organization into regional units, and three series of multiple mergers among chapters of three different national organizations. We have talked with people about the challenges they faced in implementing their SR effort, what facilitated success, what kind of leadership was or was not present during implementation, and what they would do differently if they could "go back in time." From these interviews, we wrote a series of case studies reporting on what we found. Links to those cases are provided below. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the individuals who took the time to talk with us about their experiences. As the interviews showed, leading an SR implementation effort is no easy task, and does not leave one with much free time. We appreciate these people's willingness to spend some of that sharing what they learned with us and with the sector. Case Studies based on Leader Interviews
