Integrating the New Organization

Do you have samples of organizations restructuring their governance?

The examples that we have all involve multiple organizations that restructure their governance as part of what we call a "strategic restructuring" effort - i.e., a merger with another organization, the creation of a parent/subsidiary structure, the creation of a new organization for either administrative (MSO) or programmatic (joint venture) purposes and may be "overseen" by more than one founding organization, etc. For examples of these processes, you can take a look at the Case Study section of this website, or the case studies in the following publications:

If you are looking for examples of individual nonprofits that restructure their own governance, contact BoardSource - they have many excellent resources on nonprofit governance, and have recently been doing research into alternative governance structures. Their website is www.boardsource.org.
