Meet Onuka,

one of our Partners and our Head of People.

Onuka Ibe (he/him) believes that most organizations are a few hard conversations away from having impact beyond their expectations. He is passionate about helping people across the social sector create the conditions to enable people to be co-authors, and therefore co-owners, of organizational success. Central to this is a focus not just on the outcome, but how people come together to bring it about in ways that are inclusive, equitable, and lead to a healthy set of relationships. He believes that the right focus on organizational structures can free people to focus on the causes that motivate them. Onuka especially enjoys helping people realize their potential.

Prior to joining La Piana in 2017, Onuka was VP of program at College Summit, where he led the transition from a legacy programmatic model and organizational structure to the agile, streamlined PeerForward program and infrastructure for which the organization is now named. Onuka is a past board president and foundation trustee for Delta Sigma Pi, a gender-inclusive international professional business fraternity.

Impact Approach

Onuka believes that impact is both about process and outcome. The outcome should be some better version of the world as a result of the contributions of the organization. But the process should bring people together in ways that allow them all to be collectively more than their parts and for their efforts to outlast any "key" personnel changes.
